Youth Sunday's Messages

We had a great Sunday! Is was Youth Sunday and the Lord was wonderful to us. Our Youth as always did an outstanding job on the mimes, singing and testimonies. Many in our church took part in “Cardboard Testimonies” and may I say, THAT WAS AWESOME!

It was so, in fact that we had them do it again Sunday night.

Be sure to check back at our website, we’re adding things now to keep everyone up to speed. Also on the left of this page, you can click and become a fan of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church on facebook.

Also, we will soon have a presence on YouTube and Tangle (Formerly GodTube), we do have a MySpace page, but we’ve not kept it up. But we will.

God bless and have a great day.

How to live for God once the Honeymoon is over

Here’s a message that will help you if your struggling in your Christian life. What’s surprising is that its also and maybe more so aimed at the home.

Part 1 is this mornings message. I ran a few rabbits but they were all caught and taken care of.

Part 2 is from tonight. The conclusion of the message, and focused almost entirely upon the husband and wife.

Not something that I want to preach, but it is something that God preached to me, and impressed me to preach to you.

God bless and have a great, GREAT night!

Sunday!

What an awesome day. Had a great service this morning, God really moved in, touching hearts all over the building. No preaching…from me anyway.

After church the surprised Lori & I with a fellowship in honor of our Three years at CBBC.

“It has been a blessed three years at Cedar Bluff, years that would not have been the same without Cedar Bluff in our lives.”

--James Burke

Sunday Night we had the opportunity to preach “Say NO to Discouragement” I tried to post it tonight but something is wrong with the CD, so I will try to fix it on Wednesday, then post if possible.

Sunday Services--Please Don't make me Blush!

Sunday morning was a great service. A little odd, but it was a great one. The Lord moved in a mighty way. There were folks of all ages at the altar at one point or another. Many were burdened, but I beleive most of them got the help they needed. There wasn't a lot of singing or testifying, but there was a moving.

Sunday Evening I got to preach, I used this Title: "Please, Don't make me Blush", taking the text from Jeremiah 6:15, the people of Judah could no longer blush at sin. So with that thought I tried to give three things they may have said to avoid sin:

1. I want to feel good about myself
2. I don't want to Judge
3. I've just gotten comfortable

In winding the message down, I aske dthe question, how comfortable are you about sin. Can you still Blush, are you still embarrassed about sin?

Well, are you?

The Cross made the Difference

We had two great services yesterday. During the Morning service I preached "The Cross made the Difference". Without the Cross, where would you be? It was not just "a cross" but it was Christ's Cross.

Sunday night we has a surprize with Bro. David Bilyou (Blue). He played and sang for us, there was a sweet Spirit in the service. In both services actually, but I did preach on "Strange Things" last night.
To those who have never experienced the "New Birth", the miracles of Christ seemed strange.

I'm late!

Let me say first of all... I am so sorry to be this late in the updates.

Last Sunday's Messages (Oct. 4th) were added with no problem. Please visit sermon audio.com to listen.

This past Sunday's messages are partially added. You see Sunday Morning, something happened to the recorder during recording, therefore we did not get the message recorded. So we only got one from this past Sunday.

"The Blood of Christ"

Also, the last Sunday of September had the same problems.

Sermon Audio

I wanted to update everyone on what our internet ministry is doing. Below are the stats for the month of September. Please look at them and join in prayer with me about furthering the gospel through the internet.

September vs August

61% Increase in Downloads 239

75% Increase in United States Downloads 214

9% Increase in International Downloads 25

Last month I wrote about my desires to see downloads in all 50 states. We had 20 last month and this month we had 26. So we’re more than halfway there now.

I want to ask/encourage you to tell other about this ministry. There is no reward for a certain about of downloads, however the more people can hear the Word of God, the better the chances are that people get saved, or come back to Christ. I will give you a few websites I’d like you to visit regularly, if not you, email the links to your friends. Yesterday we preached in part about the Power of Witnessing, this is a powerful witnessing tool. Direct folks to either of these websites and the WILL get the Gospel. Once they are there, they also have the choice to choose other churches to listen to.

Please pray for this ministry, God has blessed in the 5 months that we’ve been doing this with over 600 downloads. That is 600 people that otherwise may not have heard the Gospel preached. You do have a part, so I ask you to join with me in this ministry.

How do we walk in the Spirit?

Galatians 5:16 says, "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

Have you ever read this and thought, "I would love to walk in the Spirit - but how do I do that? What does it
look like?"

A few verses later, Paul tells us in Galatians 5:22 what it looks like:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

Walking in the Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit. Well, that answers what it looks like - how about "how" to do it? Jesus Himself gives us the answer to this.

He said, "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." -John 15:5

When we abide in Christ we are walking in the Spirit and producing much fruit. The fruit looks like love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, and temperance.

Let's keep our eyes on our Saviour and walk with Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

God bless ya'll!

What a Day that Will be.

This morning I had a great opportunity to preach on Hell. It was a difficult message, however a very needed one.

The message of hell has been rejected for years, it has been forsaken by preachers, but today the Lord gave me liberty to preach. (Thank You Lord)

I trust that you will listen to the message. “What a day that will be”

This evening I preached “God’s way is Best”. I hoped to have it posted tonight as well, unfortunately we had an issue with recording. With that being said I cannot post the message. If anyone would like the outline, give me a shout and I will post it.

Sunday Services

Let me say, the Lord sure is Good! We had two great services on Sunday. Sunday Morning I preached "Three Sons" from Luke 15. I sincerely hope that folks will listen to this message and decide who they will follow.

Sunday night we had a real treat. One of our own, Lucas Turner returned from Boot Camp in Parris Island a few days ago, and I asked him to preach for us, he decided to give his testimony about boot camp. He didn't give a title so I gave it the title "Let me tell you about Paris Island" I was/am very excited, and pleased about what God is doing in Lucas' life.

Romans Chapter 5

Not sure how we ended up with this message, but I’m sure glad we did. As I shook hands with everyone after church, a number of people stopped to say thank you.

Romans Chapter 5” as we’ll call it, is simply a straight from God look at a few key verses in this chapter.

I sure hope its a blessing to you as it was to me.

Sunday Services

We had two wonderful services Sunday. There were some out of town for the holiday weekend, but the Lord was there, and we still had a good number of folks at church, so we Praise the Lord for that.

I had a good time preaching both services, “The Lad, his lunch, and the Lord” on Sunday morning, then “Three Facts about God’s Love” on Sunday night.

We had a quick business meeting after the service, and STILL got out early. About 15 of us went to Gatti’s pizza for supper and had a great time of fellowship.

Let me update you on our website. We are trying to decide what direction to take it. Currently we are re-directing our website to our homepage at Sermonaudio.com We are checking in to making our real homepage link directly to sermonaudio. We still have some questions about how that will work, so when we make that decision we’ll update you on that.

If you get time, please stop by www.sermonaudio.com/cedarbluffbc and listen or comment, or even email the messages to someone that may need it.

I hope the Lord blesses you this week, you have a great and I’ll talk with you soon.

We had a great service this morning! I had the opportunity to preach this morning, “The Lad, his lunch, & the Lord” was the title of the message. I encourage you to click on the title above, and listen to the message.

I will try to post this evening’s message after the service.

Mid-Week Meeting

Last night was a good services. We had a few out, but still the Lord moved. We didn’t have very much singing though. My wife Lori was at home with our little girl who was not feeling well, so Brittany Cornelius filled in at the piano.

Brittany did an excellent job. She is learning new songs and playing each one great. She says she learning to play “Getting ready to leave this world”, that way Floyd can sing it if she has to play.

GREAT JOB BRITTANY!

Also we deviated from the norm on Wednesday nights too. The Lord gave me a message from Joshua 24:15. “I’m going through”, four things that this statement says to modern day Christians.

I’ll give you the outline later today. I don’t believe we recorded last night, so I can’t post it on sermonaudio.com but I WILL put the Outline here on the blog.

p.s. We are thinking about changing the website around, we may use Sermon audio as our homepage. As a matter of fact, if you go to www.cedarbluffbaptistchurch.org you will be redirected to our homepage at www.Sermonaudio.com/cedarbluffbc So be looking for the changes, and tell me what you think.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete

Yep, that’s what I preached this morning! Have you ever wanted to start all over again? Ever felt like you NEED to start all over?

The Psalmist did… at the very end of Psalm 139 he cried out to God to Search, Try, and Lead him.

“Control Alt Delete”

“A testimony worth repeating” is from tonight’s service. It was a very refreshing service. At the end of the message, people began to testify. For at least another 20 minutes folks were testifying of salvation, blessing, and all around goodness of God.

This was a great day in the Lord!

When Your Song Returns

In March, the Lord gave me a message to encourage me. It did, and He impressed me to share with the Church. Someone reminded me of that message last Sunday and the Lord again impressed me to share with the World.

This is a two part message, so please listen to both messages. I’m sure you will be blessed as I have.

A Place Called Hell

Sunday was our Youth Sunday. We had our young folks take care of the singing, teaching, announcments and other things. They did an excellent job, I wish everyone could see them.
I felt led to have Bro. Pete Daniels come and preach for us. He is in his 60's and has had a rough life away from God, He got right years ago, and just recently has surrendered to the call to preach.
Sunday morning he preached "A Place Called Hell", as simple as it may sound to our ears, the message is real, relevant, and needed in our day and time.
Sunday night he preached again, he didn't really give a title so for posting sake I have tried to title it myself, he preached around this thought "Whosoever".

I hope you enjoy these messages, and please pray for our church, the internet ministry and for the lost that are wandering without hope.

This weekend's messages

I almost didn't get to preach last night... wouldn't hve surprised if I didn't. God's been blessing our little church. It seems like we have more praise services, and worship services than anything right now.
No doubt preaching is always welcome, and very much needed, in fact it is considered a necessity, however, right now God is blessing, so we're gonna take what we can get while we can...Can I get an AMEN?

So, here the run down form the services yesterday. The morning message was "A Trophy of Grace", I got to use props, I love to use visual illustrations, they seem to get everyones attention and keep it.
God bless one of my young men in the church Zach, he always get's picked on, he got drenched with water yesterday morning.

Last night was a little different, we had great singing and a moving of the Spirit. I thought for a while that God was gonna do the preachin' Himself, but He had a message for me to preach, so I preached "Three Wells", a message that should be an encouragment to draw from the wells in our times of weariness.

Don't forget, we update on facebook, twitter, and our sermons are available as an RSS feed in Sermon Audio (you can subscribe just by clicking the orange and white button), but you can also download as a podcast from ITunes.

Playing Catch up

It seems like I'm behind a month or more, but its only a week...I think.

I preached a rather strange title last week. We only had one preaching service, we had a church singing last Sunday night, and it was a great big blessing.
Anyway here's last Sunday Morning's message "A Shindigger's last Shenanigan"

Set me as a seal upon thine heart..

Song of Solomon 8:6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

This beautiful verse tells us about our sealing by the Holy Spirit, what our love should be for Christ, what Christ's love is for us and ends with a stern warning for us. Let's break this down:

>Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm

The seal shows that we are God's, and on the Heart and Arm symbolize the emotions (heart) and actions (arm)

A few other places this symbolized in Scripture we find this is:

Revelation 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Revelation 13:16 And he (antichrist) causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (hand symbolizes what they do, forehead symbolizes what they think)

Deuteronomy 6:6,8 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

>for love is strong as death

Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

>jealousy is cruel as the grave:

Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

>God is a jealous God and expects us to be loyal as in a marriage, demonstrated here in Song of Solomon and throughout the Bible. We are the Bride of Christ.

Isaiah 54:5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

Ephesians 5:31-32 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

> cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.

Fire and flame refer to the grave of those that have provoked God to jealousy.

Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Mark 9:45-46 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Now we see our duty clearly. God spoke it through

Moses: Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Paul: 1 Corinthians 13:2-3, 13 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing. ...And now abides faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Christ: Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Love is how we can tell who is Christ's and who isn't. Love is "as strong as death" my friends, and, in the case of Christ: stronger, He overcame death for us. But do we love Him enough to die for Him? Do we love Him enough to treat the His sheep with love? Our enemies?

"Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame."

God bless you and remember to savor your Saviour!

Sunday's Message

Please follow this link for Sunday's Message. "What's it gona take?" This message was meant (as far as I knew) to be a "Sweet" message, an encouraging message. Turns out the Lord had me hit on a lot of different things. Infact, there were so many things outside of the message, I preached nearly if not more than an hour. Also, as you listen to th emessage, you will find that all of the message is not there. I will post the outline soon, so you can follow along if you'd like.

Sunday night we had a very nice service. I guess the Lord was trying to encourage us in His time. We had a few visitors and some of them were carrying heavy burdens. The altars began to fill, and folks began to seek the Lord for help and leadership.

I had a message on my heart to preach, "Trophy of Grace" but the Lord had other plans. Maybe He'll allow that message another time.

I hope you all have a great day, and enjoy the message. Or endure the message. Either way please listen and allow the Lord to speak to your heart.

Last Day

Its the last day of Camp Canaan and we’re all wore out. We’ve been Putt- Putting, Bowling, watched a movie and had church 8 times already. We have 1 more service left, and then its times to leave in the morning. We will stop at Chick-fil-a in the morning for breakfast. It has become our yearly tradition after camp.
odd thing about camp is that no one has been saved yet. Now, on the other hand, yesterday’s service was from another world, the altars we full with adults and young folks. A sweet moving of God began to sweep through the tabernacle.

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Camp Canaan.

Last night and Today were extremely good services. Last night Bro. Robert Laymance and Bro. Jonathan Hatcher Preached. As usual both men brought the Word in excellent fashion.

Today was BUSY! We started the services with prayer and singing. Our Youth Group got to sing twice so far. Both were by surprise. They did great though.

Lori & I have sang a few times, but tonight the Lord really annointed the songs, and the two of us.

This morning was filled with singing and preaching. I started the service off with a message, then Bro. Wilton Grimes, & Bro. Hubert Troutman.

This afternoon we took everyone to the mall to get something to eat, then to the movies to watch “G-Force” in 3D. It was a pretty good movie, clean too.

Tonight started with some great singing and a tremendous moving of the Spirit.

Bro. Larry Russell preached the only message tonight, it was a blessing to all the preachers, really to everyone in the tabernacle.

You all have a great day and we’ll update again soon.

Day #2 @ Camp Canaan

Its day #2 here at Camp. We had a gully washer as far as the weather goes. It started raining around 2:00 this afternoon, and rained until around 5:00. It is WET!

We’re looking forward to a great service tonight. We had a great service this morning, Bro. Will O’Neal, Charles Cassidy, Jack Pendergrass, and Steve Wilkerson all preached this morning. There a lot of preachers here this week, and a lot of singers, so we’re bound to have a great week.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to update tonight but, I will try.

Have you ever dreaded the day ahead of you? Be encouraged!

Have you ever felt like you couldn't face the day? It put you in a bad
mood to think that you would have to put up with the same things
again?

I have too. What helps me is to remember Philippians 2:5 that says,
"Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus." ie our
attitude and mindset should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Surely in the flesh there were times He didn't want to face his day
either.

People plotting against him, trying to trap him, Plotted against in
the religious commmunity as well as the political. His own people were
his enemies - yet He was always faithful to His calling. God will help
us obey His command in 2 Corinthians 10:5 - we must take every thought
captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ and Col 3:23 - whatever we
do, we must do is as unto the Lord because it is Christ that we are
serving.

Next time you feel like you can't face the day - remember it is not
your family, friends, co-workers, or even your boss you are working
for but Christ Jesus Himself and the Bible promises that God Himself
will give you your reward. Amen!

Savor your Savior!

Camp Canaan… Day 1

Today has been a busy day. We started off with a light breakfast before going to Kelsan in Chattanooga. We stopped there long enough to get some supplies for Camp Canaan, then on to Wal-Mart to kill time and let some of the folks do some shopping. We then went to Sir Gooney’s to play a few rounds of Putt-Putt Golf. The “Gangsta Putters” won both games against the “Hole Hustla’s” ( Thanks Zach for the Win!)

We took everyone to O’Charley’s for lunch, it was a nice lunch with everyone. They were all very polite and well behaved.

Then back to Camp for some some rest before church.

The singing began right off with the annointing of God. Rita Howard, Theresa, the Brantley’s and a few others sang. Bro. Frank K Nolen preached first from Jude, “Three things about the Gospel” Bro. Ronnie Jones preached from Psalm 1 about “The Influence of the Ungodly”.

After the service we had hotdogs and volley ball until 11:00 then everyone headed in . Lights out @ 12:00. Midnight

What a blessing to know that God will move down and bless His people, not once but two times in one day. Not only that but even more of a blessing is to see His people honor Him with praise.

I'm going to transition everything to Sermon Audio today...I think! So lets give a try.

VBS

So far VBS at Cedar Bluff has been great. In my time at CBBC this has been the biggest turnout for VBS. That is very encouraging to both myself, and the church. Every night we have had new students. Even our adult class is larger than it ever has been. Usually having 5 or 6, this week we have had 12 or more.

Continue to pray for the students, many are from unchurched homes. Some are from our neighborhood, some are from other communities, but they are all welcome.

Let me share this quickly. Sunday night as the night was coming to an end, the 3-5 age group was in a panic, the boys had to use the bathroom and the teachers didn’t know what to do. Both teachers we ladies and their own children are girls, so this was a problem. Just so happened I walked in and was bombarded with cries to take the boys to the bathroom.

After a little prayer and preparation on my part I took two. Both were different as night and day. But it was funny to watch the boys react when the preacher took them to the “potty”.

Last night one of them had to go so bad that he ALMOST relieved himself on the stage. The teachers were horrified, no one else was around so they had to take him. Quite an experience, but this week has been so much fun.

More a little later…

What?

Everyone probably wondered today...What no preaching? Well the Lord began to move during special singing. I felt led to sing a song called "Can I pray for you?" There was a sense of heartache in the service. As we began to sing, God began to move folks to the altar. It was a sweet meeting. I really wanted to preach, and still do, but VBS starts tonight so it will be NEXT Sunday before I can preach again. I may have to find hollow log to preach into.

I'll try to update on VBS as the week goes on. please help us pray that someone will be saved through this years Bible School "Boomerang Express"

Are you weary?

In Pilgrim's Progress, Christian and his friend were walking on the Kings highway for a long time and their feet were sooo sore. They saw the broad way right beside them. It looked so soft and comforting to their feet. They just wanted a little break. It appeared to paralel the Kings Highway so they decided to walk on it for a while - but the broadway got farther and farther from the Kings highway. Christian and his friend got had a lot of heart ache before they found their way back.

Likewise, sometimes as we are walking on the narrow path, it becomes tiring and we get weary, yet Jesus calls us to walk the straight and narrow path.

Jesus told us that "strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." - Matt 7:14

When we get burdened with our troubles, it is a reminder to turn our eyes to Christ because, his yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matt 11:30)

We can be confident because "Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." (1 Thes 5:14)

Phil 1:6 reminds us that we can be confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Remember to savor your Saviour, :-)

Praise report

Good Morning,

Jamie and I have a praise report this morning. We were getting ready for bed last night when he got a text on his phone from my youngest sister’s boyfriend. And he said he got saved last night at Neighborhood Bible Time. This is great news as Jamie and I were just talking this weekend about this so last night it was amazing to hear this news. Please continue to pray for him that he can be a light to his family.

The Ordeal of a Man's Faith

We had another GREAT service tonight. The Lord moved in tonight. We sang a song called "Allelujah" the third verse says "He is Worthy..." once we started singing that verse it got on. We had a lot of singing but EVERY ONE of them had the touch of God on it. Tonights message was "The Ordeal of a Man's Faith" a simple thought that I trust you will enjoy.

All for One & One for All

This morning was Great. We had a great Spirit in the singing, Preaching and invitation. The altars were full at times during the singing.

Sunday’s messages

Can God Bless America Again?”

God’s Way

Are messages that we all need in America Today. Our nation is now 233 years old, and has compromised in so many ways, its up to the church to turn this around. I will write more about this thought soon.

Holy is the Lord

This week God has reminded me how Holy of a God we worship. Remember in 1 Chron 13:10 when the ark of the Lord began to fall and Uzza put out his hand to steady it so it wouldn't fall on the ground - and God struck him dead for touching it? So many people wonder why God would do that. RC Sproul put it well when he said, Uzza's mistake was assuming his hand was cleaner than he ground. The dirt has always done what God commands it to do. It rains, the dirt turns to mud. The sun shines the dirt hardens back up. The ground always does what God has commanded - man on the other hand....

This brings a whole new exhortation to "Be ye holy; for I am holy!" doesn't it? (1 Pet 1:16)

But, thankfully we are not depending on ourselves to work this holiness in us - it is the Lord that works in us.

Php 2:12-13 says, "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

and

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (1Th 5:24)

How we are blessed! Amen :-)

Sunday Service at the Bluff

We had a great day in the Lord today. attendance was down due to vacations, but we still had a good day.

Bro. Daniel Flatford preached this morning on “He is Light”.

A great job to be sure. I have not felt well since Friday, so I asked Bro. Daniel to take the reigns for me.

I felt a need to preach something encouraging to everyone at church tonight. I hope its a blessing.

You can do it” is my hearts cry as I try to address December and January’s resolutions for 2009, Here we are mid-way through the year and I myself needed some encouragement to keep on keeping on with those resolutions. Some I’ve actually stopped all together, but if it will bring Glory to the Lord, then I want to “get back on the wagon” and go on for the Lord.

I trust you listen and enjoy the messages. Have a great night and a blessed week in the Lord.

To those of our church who are away…Please be careful, and hurry home.

Amen Sis. Beth

Amen Sis. That previouspost is right on point.
I stand in awe at the intricacies of God's Creation. As I watch the development of our unborn baby, God always shows be His power and Glory. My heart goes to a Nicole C. Mullins song:

"Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning? And who told the ocean you can only come this far? And who showed the moon where to hide till evening? Whose words alone can catch a falling star?"

My Redeemer, that's who. I'm thankful for the day 17 years ago that I heard His voice and answered. My heart has a desire to see Him work in my life. I have many times said no to God, whether directly or indirectly, but what a joy it is to hear Him say "Child you're forgiven" to feel His loving Forgiving arms wrap around me once more.

"The very same GodThat spins things in orbitRuns to the weary, the worn and the weakAnd the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm brokenThey conquered death to bring me victory"

There is very little wiggle room on the "Straight and Narrow" pathway, we should count that a blessing.

"...and set my feet upon a rock, [and] established my goings."-Psalm 40:2
"The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD:..."-Psalm 37:23

It IS a blessing simply because there IS no room to waver. The Lord has already paved the way, He's established it. He's ordered it. All we need to do it "keep it between the lines" stay on the path that He's given.

Wiggle Room?

As I sat on the beach looking at the ocean, I noticed how there were only a few yards difference between high tide and low tide. The ocean is so big, so mighty, yet it stops at the exact place God commanded it. I thought of a sermon I heard about how God told the sea it's boundaries and told it to go no further, and the sea said "yes Lord". God placed all the planets and gave them their exact rotation, and the planets said, "yes Lord". God gave people commands and people said "NO!".

I went back to how little "wiggle" room this large body of water has - stopping yards from the same place at both tides. In our Christian walk, our "wiggle room" on the narrow path, just like the ocean, isn't much. We have to abide in Christ to bear much fruit for the Lord.

The wisest man on earth penned this:

Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. (Song of Solomon 2:15)

In our walk we need to be aware of the foxes that spoil the fruit. Notice they are "little foxes" - it doesn't have to be a quote, "big sin" to spoil your fruit. Any sin, any disobedience, any area of our lives unyeilded to the Lord can spoil our fruit.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Only in Christ can we bring forth fruit that is pleasing.

Song of Solomon 7:12 says, "Let us get up early to the vineyards; ...."
Get up early to spend time with the Lord. In that time, let HIM tend to the branches - watering, feeding and pruning. HE will catch and prune away the foxes that spoil our fruit for Him. He will make our paths straight - we just need to be obedient. :)

Amen!

Double header tonight @ the diamond

This is the first game I’ve gotten to attend and we lost. 16-5.

This is just the first game though, maybe we’ll pull the next one.

Exciting News!!!

We had a busy evening yesterday! Got a few calls that a tree had fallen in the church parking lot. The tree fell toward the fellowship hall but missed it completely, however it did damage our church fan.

Here are a few pictures:

Sunday Evening Message

Sunday’s Service was quite a lot easier to worship in. The air had cooled the church down, and there was a freedom in the service as well.

“The Glorious Church” is about Christ’s church. It involves you and I, this is a message that we all need to be reminded of, the Make up, the Message, The Mission, and the Master.

How to know your walk pleases God

How can we be sure our walk is pleasing to our Lord? Praise God, He does not change and He has given us a clear and succinct word in both the Old and New Testaments.
Ps 15:1-5 A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a
reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
2Pe 1:5-8 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity [love]. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
How wonderful! Psalm 15 gives us a picture of 2 Peter put into action! If we do these things, we will never be moved and we will know that our walk is fruitful. Amen. :)
Remember to savor your Saviour!
love, Beth

A song from Sunday Night

Over and Over

Last nights Message @ Bays Mountain Baptist Church

Sunday was homecoming @ Cedar Bluff, so Lori and I went to our home Church. My Pastor, Bro. Hubert Troutman asked me to preach, so I preached “Who I am” from I Corinthians 15:10.

I Hope you enjoy!

Homecoming Sunday…107 years

What a great service! It started out kind of usual with the choir singing a few. The a few more songs, then a few more, Scott & Ashley sang a song I’ve never heard before, beautiful!!! Scott, Lori & I sang I have not forgotten the the Revival Choir sang How great thou Art with Floyd Taylor leading it, then we sang My, My, My. As the choir sat down someone asked us to sing another song, it went over okay, but the Lori & I sang a new song, I knew it blessed me but didn’t think much more, well God did, everything apparently had been building in a few folks. Because during that song some came to the altar, then we sang another song, and another, every time someone left the altar, someone else would come. The service lasted 2 1/2 hours, but it was great. I wanted to hear Bro. Josh Greene preach but he never got to. The BIG preacher stopped by. We had a few get help with struggles, some with family, had one admit that he really was saved, but was ashamed to say he was because of things that he’s done. Had a few come just to praise the Lord. I got the great opportunity of shouting all over the pulpit (something I’ve not done in a while)! So what I guess I’m trying to say is that…I do not have a message to pass along to you today.

We’re not having church tonight but I am preaching at Bays Mountain Baptist Church tonight, so I may post that message later tonight!

Imagine for a moment…People coming Home to do business with the Lord on “Home Coming” what a thought.

Laptop

Well I believe some Praise needs to be lifted to the Lord. I have prayed for some time now for a laptop. Since May marked the first time our Sermons have been on-line, I felt a more urgent need for a laptop. Thankfully a friend from church allowed me to borrow hers for as long as I needed it. After more praying some things fell into place and I felt as iff the Lord was impressing me to purchase a laptop for this ministry. I felt as if He wer giving me permission to step out on faith and that He would do the rest. Well he is well on His way to taking care of the financial need for the laptop.
Saturday I ordered the laptop, found that I had $250.00 off for my birthday in June, found that there is 9 months no interest, and within two days God provided an addition $250.00 to go toward the laptop, that brings the total down to around $500.00 left on the laptop. Further the Lord has impressed me to use this as a "Mission Work" or a "Ministry Tool" if you will. So with that He has given me peace, to redirect our personal missions offering directly to the cost of the laptop.
Today I recieved the laptop, right out of the box I could telll that this will be a great asset to the Internet Ministry. Thanks be to God for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this. I trust you will pray for the ministry and tell everyone you can about the on-line sermons.

Here are a few links you can use to listen and/or download the Sermons from Cedar Bluff:

"Right Things", wrong reason

My devotional reading a few days ago had some thoughts I've been pondering the last few days. It's about religious people – people that are part of the "churched" community, if you will, doing the right things for the wrong reason. In all the cases I came across this was frowned upon by the Lord.

Isaiah 1:10-17 talks about people that went through all the motions of worship with hearts far from worshipful.

John 12:4-8 relates how Judas had "concern" for the poor but with a heart opposed to God.

Matthew 16:21-23 tells us how Peter made bold statements of love for the Lord, but was, in that moment, aiding the work of satan.

1 Samuel 13:8-9 paints how we can offer sacrifices to God and be in total disobedience doing so!

James 4:3 relays how we can pray with the wrong motives.

I've been thinking how easily it is for a Christian (at any point in their walk) to assume they know God's will on an issue. One might even feel the issue is "cut and dry" but Paul writes:

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing(1 Corinthians 13:2)

All we do should be done out of our love of the Lord and motivation to please Him. As for good council, Solomon pens:

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. (Proverbs 8:14)

If there is something perplexing in your life, or something you are trying to make sense of, if you have an upcoming decision, or just need strength in your day to day walk, know this dear brothers and sisters, if we ask, we can trust God to lead us in the paths of righteousness. He is the good shepherd. He leads His sheep, and His sheep know His voice. We can please God and we can fight the good fight. (Psa 23:3, John 10:14,27)

Hallelujah!!

Youth trip to Myrtle Beach

I will get Last night Message uploaded today around 1:00 or so.

I want to update you on our youth. They left Saturday at 5:30 a.m. headed for Myrtle Beach, SC. They’ve had a few Bible studies so far, and have performed on the beach. (We have a mime group called “Sign 4 Life”) They went armed with the gospel, and a multitude of “give aways” such as beach balls, sanitizers, bottled water, gospel tracts, and many other things.

I got a text from Jason Bell (Youth Leader) saying that they were about to mime at an open gazebo. We later learned that about 60+ people gathered to watch. They loved it, in fact the kids ran out of Songs to sign with. Please pray for them as they minister, and have some fun there in South Carolina.

I’ll try to post pictures as I get them.

Sunday Morning Message

I'm getting a jump on things today. This morning Message "Why can't everyone be like me Part 1".

I was wondering how the service would be, because most of our folks are out of town this week for vacation, and our youth being on a youth/mission trip. But I feel like the service went very well. I had great liberty to preach. I hope you enjoy the message. look for Part 2 from tonight.

I've also posted the message to SermonAudio.com

Quick Update

Last night at church I felt led to prea-teach. What is that? Well its a mix between preaching and teaching. We've been studing the "ABC's of Chritian Growth" a very basic study of essential doctrines from the Word of God.

While studying I felt the need to hold off on the next study about the Holy Spirit, so the Lord opened up a door to preach "The Steps of a Good Man" from Psalm 37.

It felt good to take a break from the study, but I felt the need to study on the Holy Spirit more in depth before I teach it @ church.

Please pray for our youth Group this coming weekend, and next week. They leave this Saturday headed for Myrtle Beach, SC, for a Mission/Beach trip. They will be gone for a whole week.

Have a great Week!

Old Sermon

David's Deliverer and his Deliverance

Again, the sound is not that great, but this should be the last one with this quality. The rest should be much better.

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend is a Holiday Weekend. Most of you have been planning this weekend for a while. I have to admit, I’ve been looking forward to it too. There will be quite a few gone from our church this weekend, some are on vacation, some camping for a few days, some spending time with their family out of town.
My family in fact will be away as well, we’re spending some very much needed time away in the Action Packed town of Pigeon Forge, TN. We hope to get rejuvenated, for work, and church, but honestly this weekend will be about family. We have been so busy with everything else in our lives, that our family time has suffered. Oh yeah, my wife and I still spend time together, still pray together, and read our daughter a book at night, & tuck her in at night, but there’s something missing.
When I preacher or counsel, I tell everyone that there is a balance in the lives of Christians. Priorities if you will are very important in our lives. Here are the priorities in order, according to God’s plan.
1. God
2. Family
3. Church
4. Work
This is a very simple idea, however there are so many that do not get it. I for one, get it, but many times (recent days have been one of them) I forget about it, and my priorities get out of “whack”! I see this in my own life but also in our church, and honestly I could go to any church and find the same thing.
This think that I’m speaking of is a discombobulation of our priorities. I see our folks working all day and most of the night instead of spending time with their families. I see work as an escape from church (if you must escape from church, you may be in the WRONG church). I see Christians, putting everything in the book ahead of God, and their families. Now, there are those that put family ahead of even God, they use family to escape church as well (see above note).
It is my desire to spend time this weekend connecting with my family again, and renewing and reviving my trust, and faith in God. After all, it is because of God that I have a family, a church, and a job. Why not give the Glory where the Glory goes?

This Sunday my good friend, Daniel Flatford, will be taking care of the services. He is a great man of God, and a true blessing to my heart. He has encouraged me in so many ways in the few years that I’ve known him. Please visit our services this week, and enjoy the blessings of God.

P.S. By the middle of next week, I should have more sermons uploaded, including this Sunday’s messages from Bro. Daniel Flatford.

More on the way!

Last night at church I found the CD's from the past few months. So this weekend, I hope to be able to edit and upload some if the sermons to the blog.

I have been asked to get some singing on there too, so I may try to add a few of those.

One of the problems with that is, the copyrights, the other is the quality of the audio. While the preaching volume and quality is fine, the songs are not. Why? Because our piano does not have a microphone, so it sounds very distant. This make the singer sound as if they are sing a capella. With that said, we are working on this as well. I probably will not uplaod anymore sermons today, but will soon...PROMISE!

Post from Maine

God's Whole Council

Pssst....if someone were to sneak in your house during the night and cut one of the minor prophets out of your Bible, how long would it be before you noticed?

............Micah? Zephaniah?

I was thinking on this just the other day. The LORD convicted me that there had been some books of the Bible I had not read for about year when I last read through the Bible.

The Bible tells us something about the words of God.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Proverbs 30:5)

But he [Jesus] answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4)

It is easy to focus our attention on the Gospels and the New Testament isn't it? Then time gets away from us. But even the small books are so important! Let's get back to Zephaniah.

Here we read about God searching His nation. Think about our nation as you read it:

And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil. (Zephaniah 1:12)

Men that are "settled on their lees" means men that are complacient, spiritually stagnent, they are spiritually settled on their blessed assurance! These men say in their
heart that God will not do good or evil. Isn't that so predominent now? I hear it all the time - people that believe in a "divine power" but quote, "He does not interact with His creation". This verse speaks to that. It's a jewel. Couldn't you just hear a sermon on it? :)

Later in the book, it is penned:

Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God. Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow. Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law. (Zephaniah 3:1-4)

Woah! Does that remind you of the United States? Her officials are roaring lions, her judges are wolves, her prophets are arrogant and treacherous. Haven't many of our priests (preachers) polluted the sanctuary? God pronouces doom on them.

Zechariah doesn't leave us in destruction. It promises restoration at the Lord's return, but in the meantime gives us an important piece of advice:

Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger. (Zephaniah 2:3)

God is good. Amen! Let us not neglect to study the whole council of His Word, lest we miss out on His instruction, blessings and promises. God bless ya'll!
